The love for wood started when l enrolled in a five year Carpentry&Joinery apprenticeship with a well established company in Brighton East Sussex. After five years l passed my City&Guilds and Advanced City&Guilds at the Brighton College of Technology.

Through this period the affair for wood increased and it was the Master Joiners l served under sketch my career for more creative work.

With a period working as a freelance draughtsman for a architectural joinery design company, this gave me the skill to draw in3D designs .

I have been wood turning for 47 years and professionally 36years. In that time my work has varied from turning large structural oak columns, supplying square edge salad bowls to Harrods and John Lewis, l think 500 or more and turning large circular mirror frames, ranging from 90cm to 130cm in diameters, for the American market.

With that experience I started to give demonstrations to wood turning Associations and Societies across the country. In 2020 I was made Honourable member of the Ash Down Woodturning Association in East Sussex.

I also enjoyed and love art, which l have started to incorporate more creative wood turning, with emphasis on the aesthetic and movement within the wood, this has become my full time passion incorporating influences from sculptures such as Barbara Hepworth, Henry More and David Nash together with one of my other interests, Japanese architecture and costume.

Having over my professional wood turning career met and established a very good relationship with top craft gallery throughout the UK, they now buy and exhibit my work.

My workshop is situated on the Borde Hill estate in West Sussex, l have enjoyed wood turning there for the last 25 years, together with teaching my craft on a one to one basis.

Endorsement from the Southern Fellowship of Woodworkers

                       November 2022

      Timothy McGinn: Chairman

The Fellowship were privileged to host Kevin at their meeting in the stunning medieval Cross Barn in Odiham.

His presentation on his work and the Sussex Guild were informative and inspiring.

Kevin then demonstrated woodturning a cylindrical bowl with a square upturned lid and peak centre.

It was thrilling demonstration of his superb skills and experience accomplished faultlessly in the company of 40 members.

We are most grateful for the opportunity to host an outstanding woodturner and craftsman, thank you again Kevin
